Gonzalo gets close to Bermuda
Hurricane Gonzalo is roaring toward Bermuda as a powerful Category 4 storm, and forecasters are warning that the British island territory would likely be hit with damaging winds and life-threatening storm surge in coming hours. The eye of Gonzalo is expected to strike near Bermuda by this afternoon or evening.

Fairpoint Communications workers on strike
More than 1,700 FairPoint Communications workers in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont are on strike. The decision came hours after a failed attempt by two unions to re-engage the company in negotiations. Peter McLaughlin from the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers says the unions have offered "significant concessions," but that the company isn't interested.

Two still in hospital after deadly hayride
At least two people remain hospitalized after a fatal hayride crash. Authorities say a Jeep towing a wagon full of passengers in Mechanic Falls, Maine crashed during a Halloween-themed hayride last Saturday. A 17-year-old girl was killed and 20 other people were injured. The crash remains under investigation.
