The summer of Squirrelmageddon is finally coming to an end. But not before countless squirrels suffered their demise on roads all across New Hampshire. You don't have to drive far to see the evidence.

And while a lot of us have made jokes about kamikaze squirrels, the truth is there is a serious side to all of this. WMTW-TV in Portland reports that animal shelters in Maine are at full capacity with orphaned baby squirrels.

Shelter personnel tell WMTW the orphaned squirrels are causing a big strain on resources. Shelters are actually looking for volunteers to feed the babies. They say once the babies are weaned and old enough, they'll be released where they were found.
