Patterns and Security Codes to Avoid

Over the weekend, I left my phone in a coffee shop and was very happy that it was still there when I went back to get it. The whole adventure got me to thinking I should change my security code which turned into an interesting piece of research. 

I wondered about switching from a numeric code to a pattern drawn on the dots and learned what the easiest versions of each are to crack. 1234, 0000, 2580, 1111 and 5555 are The most common PIN numbers and should always be avoided. If a hacker knows your birthday, anniversary or relationship status, you are in danger if you use them in your code.

Patterns get complicated if you are allowed to use the same dot more than once. If not, the best strategy I learned was to cross a line you've drawn somewhere in your pattern since we naturally tend to not do that.
