The New Hampshire Primary is scheduled for February 9th 2016, with candidates promoting themselves to voters in what Politico calls the "best" state in the nation.

Inspired by a survey from back in 1931, where a magazine sought to determine the "worst American state", they looked at wealth, culture, health and public safety.  Mississippi received the dubious honor back then.

In January, on the eve of President Obama's State of the Union address, Politico ranked all 50 states but this time gave it a more positive spin and looked for the "best" state in the country.

New Hampshire placed at the top of the list. High school graduation rates, income, life expectancy and crime rates were taken into consideration.Curiously enough, Mississippi once again was ranked last in the study.
