(Portsmouth, NH) - One person suffered serious burns in a Tuesday night house fire in Portsmouth.
Fire-fighters say there was heavy smoke and fire showing from one half of a duplex at 1253 Islington Street when they arrived just after 7:30 pm.

As crews knocked down the flames, they were able to enter the home and rescued a 51-year old male resident. He was taken to the hospital with critical injuries. One fire-fighter also suffered injuries while battling the blaze.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by local and state fire officials.
