Portsmouth will be saying goodbye to K-9 'Steel' Tuesday night as the German Shepherd retires from police canine work.

Seacoast Online says 'Steel's' handler, Officer Scott Pearl will also be retiring from police canine work, but will remain with the Portsmouth Police Department, just not as a K-9 handler.

'Steel,' was purchased by The Working Dog Foundation back in 2014, thanks to a donation from Novel Iron Works.

Both Officer Pearl and K-9 Officer Steel will be recognized Tuesday night for their teamwork. Following retirement, 'Steel' will continue to live with Officer Pearl and his family.

If you want to learn more about The Working Dog Foundation, be sure to attend the upcoming 'Cruise-In for K9's' event at Scamman Farm in Stratham, NH on June 18th.
