Portsmouth, NH Rated 5th Best Small Town in the World

We sometimes take for granted that Portsmouth really is a pretty great town: the best in the United States and the fifth best in the world, says a renowned travel expert.

Gunnar Garfos (how fantastic is that name, by the way) has visited every country in the world. The dude basically globe trots for living and was asked by Thrillist.com to rate the Top 20 Small Towns in the world.

The rules he set forth: no country could have more than one representative and the population had to be below 100,000 people. Using that criteria, he based his rankings on "the people, the food, the fun, and the atmosphere."
