Portsmouth Votes to Take Land from Toyota Dealer

This could get ugly(er)

As we told you last month, the City of Portsmouth continues to wage an on-going battle with the owners of Toyota of Portsmouth over land that the dealership owns.

The disagreement stems from city sewer lines which run through the property.  The city is looking to overtake the land but owner James Boyle has vowed to stand his ground until the city can come up with a reasonable offer for land that city officials have deemed "non build-able."

Seacoastonline has reported that a vote on Tuesday night ended in Portsmouth city officials deciding to take land by eminent domain.

But it doesn't end there.  The legal battle between the owners of the dealership and the city will continue and a trial is now scheduled to take place in February at Rockingham County Superior Court.
