I, along with millions of Boston Red Sox fans everywhere was shocked to hear the news that beloved Sox color commentator, Jerry Remy, has been diagnosed with cancer again.

On Tuesday, NESN announced that Remy will be stepping away from the broadcast booth to focus all of his attention on his treatment. According to CBS Sports, this is Remy's second fight with cancer in the past three years.

If you follow the Red Sox, then you may remember Remy missed almost all of the 2009 season while recovering from treatment and complications from surgery. The cancer returned multiple times in 2017, forcing the former Sox second-baseman to miss the start of the season, as well as significant time after the All-Star break.

CBS Sports say Remy was given a clean bill of health earlier this year, and signed a multi-year extension with NESN. MLB, fellow broadcasters, and fans have reached out with their support for Remy. For his part, the Rem Dawg tweeted this on his official Twitter page...

I'm sure we're all praying Jerry gets better quickly and returns to his rightful place in the Red Sox broadcast booth.
