Saturday morning cartoons are officially a thing of the past. This weekend, for the first time in several decades, no over the air network will devote its entire Saturday morning to cartoons. It's the end of an era.

When I was a kid (wow, I just said that) cartoons were appointment viewing-- I remember my brothers, my sister and I all crowding together in the den to watch Looney Tunes, Scooby Doo and all the rest right up through about noon. Saturday morning cartoons were a weekly ritual that truly kickstarted the weekend!

The demise isn't entirely surprising, what with cable networks offering cartoons all the time-- the week long wait for Saturday fell by the wayside and the networks dropped their coverage little by little until.. well, now. So in honor of childhood, let's watch Wile E. Coyote actually catch the roadrunner!
