(Portsmouth, N.H.) - Senator Jeanne Shaheen and other community officials got a first hand look at the construction effort underway for the replacement of the Sarah Mildred Long bridge which connects New Hampshire and Maine today.

Shaheen said that even with a republican majority in congress, projects like these can still be funded.The cost of the new bridge, which is scheduled to be completed in 2018,is approximately 173 million dollars. 25 million will come from a federal grant with the remainder to be split between Maine and New Hampshire.
