It's a sad day for beer lovers in New Hampshire. Smuttynose Brewery, which got its start in Portsmouth over 24 years ago, is up for auction later on Friday.

The brewery has faced some financial struggles recently. Founder Peter Egelston said as with any business, the craft beer industry changes over time.

The Hayseed Restaurant is also included in the auction today as well. Both are located on the Towle Farm Road property.

The brewery is among the largest in New England and can produce 75,000 barrels a year. However, over the last year it has been running at 50% capacity.

The auction, which will be held at the Smuttynose Brewery in Hampton, New Hampshire gets underway at 2pm this afternoon.
