Is Australia a country? Or, is it a continent? The topic was recently brought into question at SNHU. The answer from one professor was cause for replacement.

The correct answer is both. However, professor nearly failed a 27 year old student for her project. According to ABC news, the student was assigned to compare American social norms to that of another country, and she chose to study Australia . The student received a zero on that portion, as the professor insisted Australia was a continent, and not a country. BuzzFeed identified the student as Ashley Arnold. BuzzFeed also reported that in a response to the grade, Arnold wrote her professor an email with references from SNHU's library that stated that Australia was both a continent and a country. Even after the evidence, the professor did not relent, and said she would "gladly re-examine” the project.

University officials University officials told WMUR-TV the instructor has been replaced following an investigation.
