The community of Brentwood is still trying to come to terms with the loss of one of their own. Officer Steven Arkell was killed in the line of duty earlier this month and the Brentwood Police Department stopped by Studio Big to thank everyone for the outpouring of support the community, police department and especially,the Arkell family has had and continues to receive.  If you would like to donate to the fund, here is the information you need to know.

Obama Summons Shinseki
President Barack Obama has summoned Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki to the White House this morning. The meeting comes amid mounting calls for Shinseki to resign after a VA watchdog report found broad and deep-seated problems in the sprawling VA health care system.

Shots Fired In Newmarket
Police in Newmarket say two men are in custody after shots were fired from a home on Salmon Street. Police Chief Kevin Cyr reports police from several communities, including a SWAT team, responded to the home this morning. There has been no reports of injuries.

Maine Woman Gets Seven Years Behind Bars
A 52-year-old Portland woman has been sentenced to seven years in prison after pleading guilty to her eighth drunken driving offense. A judge at sentencing Thursday said Kelly Jean Boyer has been "wholly unsuccessful" in treating her alcoholism.  Prosecutors called her a "serial drunken driver." Boyer had graduated from an intensive substance abuse treatment program in the York County Drug Court just 20 days before she was arrested on the most recent charge on Jan. 10 in Scarborough.

Stupid News

A school sanctioned senior prank went a bit too far in Ohio.  Smithville High is being torn down at the end of this school year.  So, the graduating seniors were allowed to spray paint their names on the walls.  However, teenagers and spray paint can sometimes be a bad mix.  Some teens painted more 'colorful' words than just their name.
