The Red Sox seem to be going out of the 2015 season with a bang instead of a whimper.

Unfortunately it has nothing to do with what is going on the playing field but in the corporate offices.

First off, Dave Dombrowksi was announced as the new President of the ballclub replacing the retiring Larry Luchinno.  Dombrowski's hiring led to the decision of New Hampshire native and Sox General Manager Ben Cherington to leave at seasons end.

Then last week the big announcement involving two other Granite Staters, Dave O 'Brien replacing Don Orsillo in the television broadcast booth.  Don had been with NESN since 2001 and Dave who also works at ESPN has been in the  Red Sox radio booth for the past nine years.

Both men are very talented in the sports broadcasting field and according to a Boston Herald story by Steve Buckley, Red Sox chairman Tom Warner said that O'Brien is :

“well known for bringing out the nuances of baseball strategy, sharing insights about players. It was nothing against Don. It was the opportunity to bring on Dave

I am friends with Dave O'Brien and know for fact that this is the job he has worked for since he got into the broadcasting business out of college.  He has done superior work both for the Sox and in the national spotlight for ESPN.  I feel for Orsillo. He also is a superior quality announcer who also dreamed of being part of the Red Sox family and undoubtedly will be heard from in another capacity in the sportscasting universe.

As anybody in the corporate world we live in knows(also a great quote from The Godfather)..."it's strictly business".

Good Luck to both Dave and Don.
