The cookies aren't identical and the name difference has nothing to do with political correctness!

Turns out Girls Scouts employ two bakeries to make their cookies, ABC Bakers and Little Brownie Bakers. While most of the cookies utilize the same recipes that make them indistinguishable from each other, Caramel deLites and Samoas are an exception.

A quick internet search confirmed Pat's assertion and found that there are other differences as well. We're talking size, texture and taste all being noticeably different (and they even have separate nutritional information at girlscouts.org).

As for the name, is that rumor that it changed names due to political correctness true? Nope. In fact, Thin Mints are the only cookie between the bakeries that actually share a name-- and nobody is arguing that being PC has anything to do with Tagalongs and Peanut Butter Patties. The real reason is much more mundane: trademarks.

Check out Babble.com for an excellent break down on the whole affair and be sure to order some cookies when your co-worker comes begging on account of their kid!
