According to Boston.com, Rockywold-Deephaven Camps in Holderness, New Hampshire has been harvesting their ice since 1897. People who stay there have no use for those fancy contraptions called refrigerators!

The ice harvesting process is actually quite fascinating. Volunteers begin gathering in January near Squam Lake, which is not far from the resort. They transport the ice to two storage sheds where it is kept until Summer. They then deliver the ice to guests via wheelbarrow and the guests put it in their vintage ice boxes! Only a few other places in the country are still practicing this technique.

The co-manager of the camp ground said that their clientele are typically folks who are not fond of change and they absolutely love this tradition! It takes you back in time a bit.

If you are interesting in the ice harvesting process, I'm sure they could always use a helping hand! Feel free to reach out to Rockywold-Deephaven Camps on Facebook.
