You're over 50% more likely to lose your phone during the summer, according to Asurion, the global tech solutions company. If you think about it...it makes perfect sense. You're probably outside more often. You're more engaged in conversation or activities that take your attention away from your phone. That's great! Unless you get home and realize your phone is nowhere to be found.

So and article released by PR Newswire says make sure you've got a 'find my phone' app installed on your phone. iPhones have the Find My iPhone feature. You just have to make sure it's turned on. And if you have an Android, there's an app called Find My Device.

But the study by Asurion found there's something else you can also do to increase your chances of getting your phone back...put your contact info on your lock screen.

During the study, a team of researchers left a bunch of phones in random spots around Los Angeles, New York, and Atlanta. The phones with contact info listed on their lock screens were THREE TIMES more likely to be returned!

Asurion claims you can accomplish this on most Android phones by going to the Lock Screen or Security section in your settings. On an iPhone, you might need to download an app.  There's one called LostFound that costs a buck. Or there's a way to do it through the Find My iPhone app but you can only do it after you've lost your phone. Just log in at iCloud.com, put your phone in Lost Mode...and you can add a message to your lock screen remotely.

Obviously the best way to avoid all of this is tuck your phone away someplace safe while you're out enjoying the summer. But if you're like me you want the phone with you just in case the kids text or a great photo opportunity presents itself. And of course you want to see how many likes your last post on Instagram recieved.
