Two New Hampshire Cities Earn “Bicycle Friendly” Status

Did you realize that May is "National Bike Month"? You might also be surprised to learn that only two cities in New Hampshire have been designated as bicycle friendly communities.

Concord and Keene are the two cities in the state that earned this status because of factors such as road design, education and advocacy according to the League of American Bicyclists. The Concord Patch also reports that New Hampshire was 27th on the list of bicycle friendly states. Washington state is number one.

According to People For Bikes, bicycling has many benefits which include saving money, living a healthier lifestye and contributing to a better environment. National estimates say that between 42 and 51 million people in this country rode a bicycle in the last 12 months.
