Consider the entire world of fiction-- books, comics, tv, movies, all of it. Who do you think is the best known character from New Hampshire?

Playboy recently mapped out the most popular fictional character from every state and the results are a fun (if wholly unscientific) read. Napoleon Dynamite? Idaho, you're well represented. Eric Cartman for Colorado checks out. Dorothy and Kansas are about as expected a pairing  could get.

New Hampshire? Well, it appears to have been slim pickings. Adam Sandler has played a number of memorable characters, but one of the few definitively from New Hampshire? Mr. Deeds. Ouch. We're reaching deep into the Sandler catalogue, but Happy Gilmore and Billy Madison aren't from the Granite State. Nor, it turns out, are all that many interesting fictional characters in general.

The only other character that I could think of was Josiah Bartlet from The West Wing (and Owen Meany from A Prayer for Owen Meany but that might be a little esoteric for this list). While we've contributed lots of real life stars, we seem to be underrepresented in the world of make believe.
