Starting Wednesday at 6 pm, Ian Mathieson, a part-time staff member at the SPCA, and Sandown A.C.O. Brian O'Connor will spend the night outside in a standard doghouse.  Given the stormy forecast, it could be an eye-opener.

The purpose of the event is to educate the public about the importance of proper animal shelter during the New England winter months.

An EMT will be on hand to monitor their body temperature and insure the safety of the volunteers, and an SPCA official will keep tabs on the air temperatures inside and outside the doghouse.

Members of the public are invited by the NHSPCA in Stratham to cheer them on.
