WMUR Viewers Defend Meteorologist Hayley LaPoint in Response to a Hurtful Email

Being on TV and putting yourself out there on a public forum every single say is extremely brave.

In this day and age, social media makes it extra easy for internet trolls to hide behind their keyboards and say hurtful, terrible things to people that they would NEVER have the gall to say to them in person.

Why do they do this? I think there are a few reasons. A big one is that by bringing someone else down publicly it makes them feel better about themselves and powerful on some level. I also think that they forget that these people on TV, are actual PEOPLE. They have feelings and families, and bills and all of the things that everyday people have.

Hayley LaPoint is a meteorologist on WMUR and received this email a few days ago. She decided to share it with her viewers on her Facebook page. It said something along the lines of:

"HAYLEY LAPOINT NEEDS TO GO. SHE'S UGLY AND SHE SUCKS"

Not only is Hayley beautiful but more importantly she is hard working and fantastic at her job. She is a wonderful role model for young girls in our great state of New Hampshire. I have one word for anyone who fails to recognize that: hateful.

WMUR viewers came to Hayley's rescue on her Facebook page and the positive comments were flowing in last night, the last time I checked they were up to 650.

Hayley has since removed the post from Facebook but hopefully the influx of positive comments and support from her viewers helped her realize that this person was hateful and the state of New Hampshire has her back!
