The search for missing 7-year-old Harmony Montgomery is a rescue mission not a recovery with a reward being offered for tips leading to her being found and police strongly urging anyone who knows something to step forward.

Manchester Police began an all-hands-on-deck search for the girl who was last seen in October 2019 just before New Year's Day when they first learned of her disappearance. Chief Allen Aldenberg announced a special tip line that will be manned 24/7 was created that will also accept texts at 603-203-6060.

"I'm in rescue mode right now. This is not a recovery. All efforts are focused on that Harmony is alive and we are going to do everything we can to find her in that condition," Aldenberg said.

Manchester Crimeline also put up a $2,500 for information about Montgomery along with business owners Dick Anagnost and Arthur Sullivan who are offering a $10,000 reward for tips for a total of $12,500 in rewards.

The chief appealed for information because he believes "someone knows something" and it's the right thing to do to help locate Montgomery.

"I can not emphasize enough how important any and all tips are. Even if you believe you saw this little girl a year ago or two years ago please call in. Knowing where she was can help narrow down where she is now," Aldenberg said.

Aldenberg confirmed that investigators were at a house on Gilford Street in Manchester on Sunday but the current owner has nothing to do with the case and is being cooperative.

Montgomery had been seen at the house but Aldenberg did not disclose the circumstances.

He also asked people not to "play police officer" and speculate on social media about what they see related to the case.

"People going on social media and circulating their opinions and theories do nothing for this investigation and are not helpful in trying to locate Harmony," Aldenberg  said.

Many Family Members Interviewed

The chief said that investigators have spoken with many family members although he would not specify if the girl's parents were among them. It would be "reasonable" to assume that her parents face some kind of charges in the case.

"Where Harmony should have been and who she should have been with, she's not with them. That's why we're doing this," Aldenberg said but would not disclose specifics as to where Montgomery should have been. He would not comment on a connection to Massachusetts but said that state's child welfare system is also involved.

It was the New Hampshire Division of Children, Youth and Families that alerted police to the fact that the girl was missing. Massachusetts' child welfare.

Montgomery is described as approximately 4 feet and 50 pounds with blonde hair, blue eyes and glasses. She is blind in her right eye. Aldenberg asked anyone with information about Montgomery to call the Manchester Police Department at 603-203-6060.
