While Maine is home to dozens of great agricultural fairs, one fair stands out above the rest.

The Fryeburg Fair, Maine’s Blue Ribbon Classic, is not only the largest fair in the state, it also serves as the end of Maine fair season.

The fair got its start in the early 1850s when a group of Western Maine farmers decided to get together to show off their produce and livestock.  Since then, the iconic fair has grown to cover a 185-acre fairground that boasts over 100 buildings.

A traditional Maine agricultural fair, the Fryeburg Fair gives local farmers and craftspeople a chance to show off their goods.  The fair also features a massive midway, dozens of food vendors, and nightly entertainment.

With the exception of 2020, the fair has become an iconic part of fall in Maine.  Each year, somewhere in excess of 225,000 people attend the fair.

This year’s fair will run from September 29th through October 6th.
