Goodbye John Sullivan's: Augusta's Favorite Pub Says Farewell

Some of you may have already stumbled across the bittersweet news. It’s a solemn moment for the community of Augusta finding out that John Sullivan’s formerly known as Black and Tan is saying goodbye. Through a message on Facebook, after years of being a local favorite hangout, the owners bid farewell.

There last day will be Saturday, March 8th, as per the post.

If you’ve ever grabbed drinks at this classic Irish pub, you get the whole ambiance and feel. It’s quaint and comfy pub, similar to the Cheers bar.

The announcement of the closure was made on the bars Facebook page, they shared the news with all of their loyal patrons. It read the following:

“After much consideration, we’ve made the tough decision to close our doors for the final time. Thank you all for the years of support, laughter, and memories. It’s been a good run. We will miss seeing your faces, but we’ll never forget the good times we shared. Cheers to all of you!”

Why is John Sullivan's Closing?

The closure of the pub is primarily because the owners would like more personal time after years of long hours, as per the post.

This place is more than just a bar to so many people, it was a spot where you can catch up with old friends, enjoy a delicious hearty meal, or just sit back, relax with a cold one, especially if you were part of their legendary mug club.

It sort of marks the end of an era, as The Black and Tan, the original name of the pub, on 18 Bridge street has been a fixture.
