Fifty years ago, on February 19, 1975, the  THE Queen had a show. This took place in Lewiston, Maine and the locals were a buzz with excitement!

The Lewiston Armory became the stage for this epic rock concert that would leave a forever mark on the city's musical history.

The legendary British rock band Queen, was fresh off their success with the album Sheer Heart Attack, 50 years ago. The night was presented by Northeast Concerts.

They headlined the concert and gave one hell of a performance which captivated the audiences so much so that people are still talking about it.

I noticed this old flyer posted on Lewiston Rocks Facebook and was blown away. You can also see the old flyer, here on the Queen Concerts website.

Who played?

The nights line-up did not disappoint and featured special guests Kansas and Mahogany Rush. The music was electrifying!

As per Queens Concerts, Freddie Mercury was on lead vocals, piano, and tambourine; Brian May played electric guitar, provided backing vocals, and occasionally played the banjo; Roger Taylor was on drums and backing vocals; and John Deacon played bass and occasionally the triangle.

Here's a photo of what the band, Queen would've looked like in 1976, just a year after there performance.

This will blow your mind

Tickets were priced at only $5 in advance and $6 at the door, according to Queen Concerts Can you believe it?

Even though Queen + Adam Lambert are not on tour currently, historically ticket prices range from $49.50 to $195. So, I'd say $5 bucks is a steal!

The show commenced at 8:00 PM, with the Armory's intimate setting providing an up-close experience for the entire audience.

What did Queen play?

Glad you asked, the setlist had a mix of their early hits, which certainly showed off Freddie Mercury's commanding stage presence, featuring the single "Killer Queen."

While specific details of the setlist are not super documented. The night is remembered as a huge highlight in the Lewiston Armoy’s history.

This concert was part of Queen's early tours in the United States. This was a period when the band was gained a ton of international popularity.

Their visit to Lewiston was a night that has never been forgotten!
