One of the best additions we made to our home was a Nest security cam. Now granted, we don't have any issues with people causing trouble, but it's nice to get alerts wherever you are when someone has arrived home or a package is delivered. The camera sees all.

Something else it sees is animals at night, including deer, opossums, wandering cats, raccoons, and even a hawk. It's a little like a game cam in the woods, but the animals come to us.

Oh, and there's that moment when my girlfriend Michele shut her finger in the door of her car. I shouldn't laugh, but I couldn't help myself. There's some NSFW language here, but can you blame her?

Anytime the camera detects movement it starts to record, which it did at 4:30 one morning. I looked at the notification of movement detected and saw this as I was getting ready for work.

At first, it looked like snow, but of course, that couldn't be. I opened the front door and saw nothing. It's like it wasn't even there.

I closed the door again and looked at the live feed, and there it was again. I then guessed that the infrared on the camera was picking up whatever it was and it's why I couldn't see it.

When I left to go to work, I saw this on the frame of the door.

It's a little blurry because I was a bit to close to it, but what is it?

I'm guessing some sort of insects swarming, but I haven't been able to figure it out. Any ideas?
