5 Reasons Why New Hampshire State Parks Should Give Free Admission To All Residents
New Hampshire State Parks Should Give FREE Admission to all Residents of the Granite State. I'll give valid reasons why such as, it would improve mental health and increase revenue for the state. Hopefully, Governor Kelly Ayotte will agree too.
This thought comes up in my head several times during the nice weather because I live about 1 mile from a State Park. I admit, I sneak into the park, but I'd rather not.
I walk to the park and sometimes, I take one of the back trails to get in, but I don't like it. I feel guilty about sneaking in.
Sometimes, I do pay and when I do, I always express my opinion to the high school kid in the booth before I walk in. I'm certain they appreciate my opinion so much. #sarcasm
Here are 5 Reasons Why New Hampshire Residents Should Get Free Admission to All State Parks
Reason #1:
Non-NH Residents Will Pay
If New Hampshire residents visit a State Park, they will take people from out of state who will have to pay. For example, I have family in Massachusetts and Maine and they would have to pay for admission, but not ME, I'm from the 603.
(That's a T-Shirt idea: "Not ME, I'm from the 603!" Go ahead and run with it. I'll take 20% of all the royalties.)
So, the state would make money from out-of-staters and not the beloved residents.
Reason #2
New Hampshire Residents Will Be Healthier
If we don't have to pay for admission into a state park, it will encourage us to get out in the great outdoors more often! Breath in the clean air and get some exercise. Healthy residents mean more money for retail businesses that sell sneakers. We'll need more of them.

Reason #3
New Hampshire Can Set a Precedence
Just like NH is First in the Presidential Primary, it can be first with this brilliant idea. Wouldn't the residents of Montana thank us when they breeze through Glacier National Park?
Reason #4
Free Admission to NH State Parks Would Improve Mental Health
I love to hike. It makes me feel connected in a way that only nature can do. Free admission would improve mental health for everyone.
Reason #5
Live FREE or DIE
The word FREE is in our state motto. Free admission to the NH State parks aligns with the values of our small, but mighty state.
Whaddya say, Governor Ayotte? Could you make this happen?
There are a few people who can get free admission already. If you are under 5 or over 65 or a Veteran, you don't have to pay.
You can also get a license plate when you register your car for free admission to any State Park, but with the economy, the last time I registered my car, I declined.
