You hate to think that there are criminals among us, but the sad fact is that there are.  There are all kinds of crimes being committed in our own backyard.

You might be surprised to know, according to crimestats.dos.nh.gov,  a firearm was not the most used weapon for robberies in New Hampshire in 2023.

The Definition of Robbery

The definition of robbery is taking something or attempting to take something "under confrontational circumstances," from the control of another person by force and thereby putting fear into the victim and putting them into immediate harm.

Crime has increased 7.56% in New Hampshire from 2022 to 2023

The weapons used in 53.8% of those crimes were hands, fists, feet, arms and teeth, not firearms.  So, according to the data, human body parts can and are considered weapons in certain circumstances.

Firearms were used in 19.7% of robberies, with handguns being the most common type, followed by a rifle.

Other dangerous weapons were used in 14.9% of the robberies with the most common being a knife followed by a blunt object like a hammer or some type of club.

The days of the week that most robberies are committed, no surprise here, are Fridays and Saturdays.  The time of day might be surprising, however.  The most common time of the day for a robbery is from 3 - 6pm, followed by 6pm - 9pm.

There is some good news in the data provided.  Burglary is down 18.77% from 2022 to 2023.
