The Merrimack Premium Outlets shopping area was closed Wednesday morning after a rockslide behind the shopping area also affected the gas line into the building.

The Merrimack Fire Department said they responded to the rockslide behind the shopping area's building 4 just after 7 a.m. The area was evacuated and the gas shut off as Liberty Utilities and Eversource worked to make repairs.

Video from WHDH TV showed a section of rocks inches away from the building and gas and electric boxes. A fence is stretched, holding back the large boulders from a section of stores that includes Carter's, Oshkosh B'Gosh and Gol Calendars, Games & Toys.

Repairs are ongoing to the leak, and the outlet will remain closed the rest of the day.

The outlet with over 100 stores and restaurants is located off Exit 10 of the Everett Turnpike, and set above the highway.
