Data such as typical home value, one-year price change and five-year price change were used to find the hottest towns/cities in Maine. So, who’s leading the pack? Surprisingly, not Portland.
What’s the big draw? If you live here or have just visited, Portland has it all: breathtaking coastlines, vibrant cultural offerings, a killer food scene, craft breweries everywhere, and easy access to outdoor adventures like hiking and skiing.
When anyone thinks of Massachusetts, there's a good chance they may be quick to think of places to travel to like Boston, Cape Cod, Salem, the Berkshires, Cambridge, or Nantucket/Martha's Vineyard. People here know there are plenty of other amazing spots that I'm leaving out. However, none of those were picked as the 25 most underrated destinations in the U.S. As it turns out, the Bay State has two of them. What do you think they are?

Massachusetts has some of the most unique town names of any state in the U.S. And that's actually an understatement. Some town names are so distinctively unique that plenty of residents don't even know how to pronounce them. There's also towns in the Bay State begin with the four directions: North, East, West, and South. There are even 19 towns throughout the Bay State that end in 'ham'. But throughout all the crazy, unique, eccentric, and bizarre town names in Massachusetts, some just don't sound like they are towns that should exist in the Bay State whatsoever!
