Today is National Baked Alaska Day. The one dessert that automatically takes me back to my childhood and Sunday dinners at my grandmother's house.

When I was a kid, many Sunday's were spent at my grandmother's house. We'd visit with relatives for a little while, then head over to the neighborhood bowling alley for a few games then back to 'Nannie's' house for dinner. Many of those dinners ended with 'Baked Alaska' for dessert. My aunt was a whiz in the kitchen and she made the best Baked Alaska's.

I miss those days with no cares or worries. I also miss the days of having homemade Baked Alaska because there is no way I could possibly master this (or for that matter any other) dessert!

Here is a recipe from the Food Network for Baked Alaska. Feel free to share your own version, if you're so inclined!
