BREAKING: Portland Pirates to Depart Maine

They are headed west for Springfield, MA

WCSH Portland is reporting that the Portland Pirates will be departing the city for Springfield MA.

The Pirates are a minor league affiliate of the Florida Panthers.  They came to Portland in 1993 after the departure of the Maine Mariners.

They will replace the Springfield Falcons who move to Tuscon, AZ.

No word on when exactly the move will take place.

Oddly enough, their website advertises the fact that you can purchase tickets for next season.
