New garage in downtown Portsmouth
Portsmouth City Council has u na ni mously voted to authorize a purchase-and-sales agreement to spend $4.9 million on a property that will become the city's second downtown parking garage. The 600-space garage will be located on Deer Street in Portsmouth's North End

Scallop meeting set
Scallop fishing has increased dramatically off of some parts of New England recently, and fishermen and regulators will soon meet to discuss how to avoid over exploiting the valuable shellfish. The New England Fishery Management Council will hold a public meeting about the issue on Wednesday. Exactly how more regulations would impact consumers is unclear. Prices for scallops have been high in recent months, and catch levels have dropped from the boom years of the mid-2000s.
