House could vote on budget this week
The U.S. House could vote as early as tomorrow on a budget agreement that would avert a government shutdown in December. The budget deal, reached last night, represents one last accommodation between President Barack Obama and House Speaker John Boehner, who'll turn over the speaker reins to Congressman Paul Ryan on Thursday.

Late night fire in Portsmouth
A late-night fire damaged a vacant home in Portsmouth, causing injuries to one fire-fighter.Fire officials got a 9-1-1 call at 11:42 Monday night reporting the fire at 107 Stark Street. The building was undergoing renovations and was not occupied at the time. One fire-fighter suffered minor injuries while battling the blaze.The cause is believed to be spontaneous combustion in a barrel of sawdust.

Successful Moose Hunt
It's been a good moose hunt season in New Hampshire. The state Fish and Game Department says preliminary figures indicate hunters achieved a 69 percent success rate this season, which ended Sunday. The department says 74 of the 108 hunters succeeded in taking a moose.
