Obama sending more troops to Syria
President Barack Obama says he's sending up to 250 more troops to Syria to help in the fight against the Islamic State group. Obama says the additional troops, added to the 50 already there, will "keep up this momentum" against IS. The president made the announcement at a trade fare today in Hannover, Germany.

Firefighters contain Wolfeboro brush fire, save nearby home
Officials say a home was narrowly saved by firefighters after they successfully battled a brush fire that scorched 1 1/2 acres in New Hampshire's Lakes Region over the weekend. The blaze was first reported around 4:50 p.m. Sunday on Timber Lane in Wolfeboro. The blaze remains under investigation.

Volunteer firefighter charged with arson
A volunteer firefighter charged with arson in connection with a brush fire that burned 190 acres in Stoddard and prompted the evacuation of 17 homes is due to make his first court appearance. David Plante is scheduled to be arraigned today in Keene.
