House to get new speaker
House conservatives may be grumbling about having more say in how the chamber operates, but Republicans are ready to make Rep. Paul Ryan the new House speaker. The young lawmaker from Wisconsin plans to ask both parties for a period of healing and a focus on working families, in his acceptance speech. Before the roll call vote, outgoing Speaker John Boehner will deliver his final remarks to the chamber where he served for a quarter of a century.

Labrie to be sentenced today
The lawyer for a Vermont man convicted of sexually assaulting a younger student at an elite New Hampshire prep school says his client has already been punished and should receive probation. Twenty-year-old Owen Labrie faces up to 11 years in prison when he's sentenced today in Concord.

New Hampshire getting $23M in low-income heating funds
New Hampshire is getting more than $23 million in assistance under the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program. Earlier this month, U.S. Sens. Jeanne Shaheen and Kelly Ayotte joined a bipartisan group of colleagues to call on the Department of Health and Human Services to release LIHEAP funds as quickly and at as high a level as possible to aid low-income families and seniors as winter approaches. The senators announced the release of an additional $2.27 million in LIHEAP funding for New Hampshire earlier this year from the initial fiscal year 2015 release.
