A hazardous material was "identified and contained", but there was never a safety concern for the community or surrounding neighbors, according to Durham Police.
The order comes as Durham and UNH were directed last week by the state Department of Environmental Services to stop using water from the Lamprey River because of water quality concerns
It was initially reported by several media outlets that the line, which runs from Boston to Maine through New Hampshire, would have to suspend alcohol sales because of state law requiring product to have been purchased by the seller in the Granite State.
