A tradition since 2003, it's 'Truck Day' for the Boston Red Sox.
The equipment truck for the Boston Red Sox is scheduled to leave Fenway Park at noontime today to begin the journey to the team's spring training complex at JetBlue Park in Fort Myers, Florida. The man who has the awesome responsibility of getting all the team's gear to where it needs to be is Massachusetts native, Al Hartz. He will be hauling the following supplies:
20,400 baseballs
1,100 bats
200 batting gloves
200 batting helmets
320 batting practice tops
160 white game jerseys
300 pairs of pants
400 T-shirts
400 pairs of socks
20 cases of bubble gum
60 cases of sunflower seeds
Red Sox pitchers and catchers are scheduled to report to spring training Feb. 18 and hold their first workouts Feb. 19. The Red Sox will open their 2016 season on April 4 against the Cleveland Indians at Progressive Field.
