For 28 years I drove the same way home from work and for most of that time passed by and noticed a fixture in North Hampton. "Jericho" the donkey was a longtime resident of the Hobbs Farm on RTE 1.

Unfortunately, Jericho passed away in February.

Throwback Brewery is the owner of the Hobbs Farm property and had been caretaker for Jericho since 2012. They even named one of their IPA's after him: Donkey-Hote.

Whenever I saw him in the fields basking in the sunshine I felt a sense of calm and hope that someday I could enjoy a relaxed existence (good luck to that).

In time the brewery says a new donkey will be brought in to replace Jericho, but to all of us who grew up with him it just won't be the same.

The folks at Throwback Brewery have said donations in memory of Jericho can be made to the ASPCA or NHSPCA.
