It’s wonderful living in New England with access to the great outdoors and nature.  The opportunity to see wildlife is ever-present but not without its risks.

According to wmur.com, however, a bear was euthanized after breaking into a home in Jackson, New Hampshire.

The bear was looking through trash and entered the home through a screened window.

The news station reported that the residents of the home on Wildflower Lane were able to get the bear out of the house and no one was injured.

Officials at New Hampshire Fish and Game then had to take action and put the bear down.

Sadly, this is an all too frequent occurrence.

Once bears learn how easy it is to get a meal from our trash, it’s hard to break them from the habit and close encounters between bears and humans are dangerous.

Remember if you are in a rural area it’s a good idea to get a bear-proof trash container.
