A Website Predicted New England’s Most Popular Christmas Treat By State — Did They Get It Right?

I feel like the thought process and methodology behind this is...interesting, but it's at least still pretty intriguing and has my curious, so here we are.

Zippia.com, a website that identifies themselves as "The Career Expert," recently wrote an article on the most popular Christmas treats in every state. Now, first things first, they had me at the word "treat" (which I get makes me sound like a dog, but seriously -- I have a notorious sweet tooth so treats are like my favorite things.)

In all seriousness, though, obviously I was curious what they came up with for Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and the rest of New England, because I'm always skeptical with these things. But, I have to say, it's possible that they have it right...

Zippia explained how they went about figuring out all of this information, and it's...well, props for thinking outside of the box and getting creative, because they definitely flexed their "abstract art" muscle on this one (that's not an insult, by the way -- I never would've thought to get this information this way.)

Apparently, they used Google Trends to put this all together. Zippia looked at what they identified as "40 Christmas Classics - including candy stocking stuffers, peppermint yumminess, and all the cakes." Basically, they broke down what Christmas treats were the most searched on Google by each state, and that's how they decided they are the most popular Christmas treat for that particular state.

Which, like I said, they thought outside the box, but then again -- who would Google a treat that they don't really like or care about, ya know? Based on all of that info, the results they got for Northern New England look like this:

Maine: Chocolate Truffles

New Hampshire: Gingerbread Man

Massachusetts: Christmas Trifle (which is traditionally classified as a sponge cake soaked in alcohol, covered with a layer of fruit, covered with a layer of egg custard, and topped with whipped cream).

For what it's worth, I'm a huge fan of all three, so...I can't say that it's ENTIRELY wrong. But it's your turn to weigh in -- did Zippia.com get it right? What's YOUR favorite Christmas treat?
