Here’s What to Do With Extra Pet Food in Massachusetts
We love our pets and want to feed them the best food, but sometimes it gets too expensive.
The number of people who want or need a pet does not equate to everyone having the ability to afford food for a furry friend. This is sad, but true.
What do you do with pet food no longer needed? Perhaps your pet has passed away, or you bought food in bulk, but your pet doesn't like it. Maybe you found this unbelievable deal on pet food, but don't know where to donate the goods.
There's a Facebook group that will gladly find a taker for the food, but more importantly, give it to a pet owner who needs it.
Sound familiar? Yes, it's like a food pantry for pets.
What's the caveat? The pet food must be unopened and from a reputable company. You can't be too careful with what you feed your pet, but also, many shelters and rescue organizations don’t take opened bags of food, expired food, or specialty food if they don’t have an animal that currently needs it.
That’s where the Pet Food Exchange MA group comes in. Donations are only for pet food and pet treats. That's it.
