Amtrak to Allow Pets to Ride with You Beginning Tomorrow

Good news for pet owners looking to take their pets along on vacation. Beginning Tuesday, you may be able to take Fido along with you! That is, if Fido meets certain conditions.

Amtrak announced on last week that you can travel with a cat or small dog on select routes, including the Downeaster, so long as they meet the following conditions:

• They are in a carrier
• They and the carrier weigh no more than 20 pounds
• The pet is at least eight weeks old
• All vaccinations are completed

The service will run pet owners an additional $25 gets underway Tuesday, October 12th. If finding pet sitter or not wanting to kennel your pet has kept you from taking a train to your destination, check in with Amtrak for all the details!
