Are You Troubled By The Steady Return Of Masks Here In New Hampshire?
An early trip to the grocery store on Saturday morning made me feel like I had turned back the clock to the pre-vaccine days. Have you noticed the steady return of masks in public?
The last thing I want to do here is wag my finger at local businesses that aim to keep their workers healthy and safe during this flare up of 'The Delta Variant' and the doubling of active COVID-19 cases here in NH since June.
But I must admit, it really discouraged me when I finally realized at the check out line that everyone working at The Somersworth Market Basket was masked up.
Just last month, Market Basket put forth one of the best videos celebrating how much we had all gone through in battling the virus and how those practices were now becoming a thing of the past.
The final scene of that video, from only 41 days ago, shows the unmasked faces of 'Artie T's Army' all within three feet of one another, beaming with smiles.
I quickly looked at the other shoppers and sure enough, about a half dozen people were masked as well.
Let it be known that I have no problem masking up wherever there's a policy to do so. I just wore a mask when flying from Manchester to Las Vegas and back again.
The thing is, the face cover that I wore was still tucked in my carry on bag, back in my living room!
According to several sources, The CDC is strongly considering issuing recommendations that everyone, INCLUDING THOSE FULLY VACCINATED, to use face masks in public.
Again.
In the middle of summer.
When will we ever be free from this virus?
