Astronauts Get Movie Screen in Space, Promptly Watch the Worst Movie You Could Watch in Space
A new 65" projection screen was delivered to astronauts aboard the International Space Station and then a very unusual movie choice ensued.
Last weekend, the astronauts chose to watch Gravity. Yeah, the 2013 in which debris destroys two astronauts' ship and sends them hurtling through space. I was uncomfortable watching this while sitting on my couch situated on Earth.
These are men and women of science who could probably see through every plot hole, and being astronauts they're essentially fearless anyhow. All that being said, I'm not even sure I could think of a worse movie to watch while floating in space. Oh, wait...
Okay, that might be worse, but it still seems like a very odd choice. The primary purpose of the screen, it should be noted, is not to terrify astronauts in space but for video conferences and training sessions.
