There are few things in life that beat a really great breakfast sandwich and writing this is making me so hungry right now

After digging through local recommendations, foodie discussions, customer reviews, and a few statewide "best of" lists, these five kept showing up over and over again.

1. Breakaway Cafe — Dover

This is one of my personal fav's. If you've ever talked breakfast sandwiches in New Hampshire, you've probably heard someone mention Breakaway Cafe. Their signature Bacon Me Crazy has developed a loyal following (I get mine on the Jalepeno Cheddar Bagel), and Chowhound even ranked it as the best breakfast sandwich in the Granite State. Between house-made bagels, specialty coffee, and creative ingredients, it's easy to see why people keep coming back.

2. Fat Dog Kitchen — Dover

Just a few minutes away is another local favorite. Fat Dog Kitchen is known for taking classic breakfast comfort food and giving it a creative twist. Their breakfast sandwiches are hearty, packed with flavor, and have become one of the restaurant's signature menu items. The breakfast sandwiches are served on an English muffin and named after famous dogs like Snoopy, Pluto and Scooby. If you love a breakfast that actually keeps you full until lunch, this belongs on your list.

3. Fresh Tracks Sandwich Shop — Lincoln

Heading toward Franconia Notch or Loon Mountain? Stop by Fresh Tracks. People rave about the breakfast sandwiches here, with many saying they're among the best they've ever eaten. The Devil's Gulch looks amazing with English muffin, bacon, pickles, deviled egg filling and paprika. The fresh ingredients, creative combinations, and generous portions have helped this spot earn a devoted following.

4. Tucker's — Dover (and other NH locations)

Tucker's has become one of New Hampshire's most popular breakfast destinations for good reason. The Everything Maple sandwich has my vote... 2 local fried eggs, cheddar, short creek maple sausage patty, maple bourbon bacon, and maple cream cheese on a grilled everything bagel. Their breakfast sandwiches are made with fresh ingredients and served alongside an extensive breakfast menu that keeps locals coming back week after week. It's one of those places that's almost always busy, and that's usually a pretty good sign.

5. Big Dave's Bagels & Deli — North Conway

In my mind, the bread makes all the difference. Big Dave's serves authentic New York-style bagels piled high with eggs, cheese, bacon, sausage, or whatever combination you're craving. It's a favorite stop for both locals and visitors before spending the day exploring the Mount Washington Valley.

When it comes to breakfast sandwiches, the best breakfast sandwiches are the kind where the eggs are perfectly cooked, the bacon is crispy, the cheese is melted just right, and somehow the bread manages to hold everything together without falling apart in your lap.

Every list like this is guaranteed to start an argument, and honestly, that's part of the fun. Maybe your favorite didn't make the top five. Maybe you swear by a hidden gem in your hometown. Either way, New Hampshire has no shortage of amazing breakfast sandwiches, and we could probably make a second list just from your recommendations.
