If you're craving an unforgettable bowl of mac and cheese, New Hampshire has plenty of places that deserve a spot on your must-try list. I asked you where to go when only cheesy comfort food will do, and one restaurant quickly rose to the top. Mr. Mac's.

In my opinion, mac and cheese isn't just a side dish. It's a personality trait.

I asked one simple question:

Where can I find the best mac and cheese in New Hampshire?

You all absolutely delivered. Some of you swore by your favorite restaurants, while others made it very clear that nobody makes it better than Mom... or yourselves.

Based on your recommendations, here's where I need to start my mac-and-cheese tour of New Hampshire.

1. Mr. Mac's Macaroni & Cheese (Manchester and Portsmouth) ⭐ Most Mentioned

There wasn't even a close second.

Four different listeners immediately pointed me to Mr. Mac's.

Sujeita Goel: "Mr Mac's!! Love macaroni and cheese!!"

Loretta Snell: "Mr. Mac's."

Christine Petrin: "Mr Mac's."

Jennifer Davis: "Mr. Mac's."

I'm just spitballing here but... when an entire restaurant is dedicated to macaroni and cheese, it probably knows what it's doing.

They offer more than 20 made-to-order varieties, including Lobster Mac, Buffalo Chicken Mac, Cheeseburger Mac and plenty more. If you're serious about mac and cheese, this feels like a required pilgrimage.

2. Auburn Tavern  (Auburn)

Sara Robin Nicholas didn't hesitate.

Sara Robin Nicholas: "Auburn Tavern in Auburn off Exit 2 on Route 101! The Buffalo Chicken one is my favorite!"

Buffalo chicken and mac and cheese might be one of the greatest food combinations ever created.

This one immediately jumped near the top of my must-try list.

3. Route 104 Diner (New Hampton)

Dawn Howe gave this classic diner some love.

Dawn Howe: "Besides mine, I love Route 104 Diner's."

Anytime someone says, "Besides mine..." you know they take mac and cheese seriously.

4. Soel Sistas Cafe, Catering & Food Truck (Nashua)

Kendra Soucie-Smith says this hidden gem deserves more attention.

Kendra Soucie-Smith: "Soel Sistas Cafe-Catering & Food Truck."

Now I have another place to track down.

5. Lucky Dog Tavern (Plymouth)

Andrew Dybala kept it short and simple.   "Lucky Dog Tavern."

Sometimes one restaurant name says everything.

Honorable Mention: Mom's Homemade Mac & Cheese ❤️

If there's one thing I learned from this conversation...

You don't mess with homemade mac and cheese.

Several listeners insisted the best version isn't found in a restaurant at all.

Cami Mackenzie shared one of my favorite responses.

"I can almost bet money on this. If my mom was still here with us, she could have made you the best mac and cheese homemade. It's the only way I would eat mac and cheese was my mom's."

That one hit me right in the feels.

My daughter swears by the mac n cheese recipe from Tini Younger.  Her recipe has been shared on tiktok millions of times.  One post in particular has over 123 million views.

Others weren't about to give away the family title.

Cindi Swan: "Mine."

Janice P. Brown: "Me."

Tamberino Mel: "My house lol."

Dawn Cardin Karmeris: "Me. I make a great mac and cheese with ham with a cracker crumb top."

But here's the problem...

Now I need to try all of them.

It's all in the name of research.  I'll take one for the team.

And if eating nine different versions of macaroni and cheese is what it takes to serve the people of New Hampshire... I'll gladly make that sacrifice.
