New Hampshire Listeners Say These Are the 7 Best Places for Steak
I’m craving a steak. Not just any steak, either. Give me a medium-rare filet or ribeye and you have found the way to my heart.
So when I asked you where I should go in New Hampshire for a really good steak, you did not disappoint.
One restaurant absolutely ran away with this thing.

1. Tuckaway Tavern & Butchery — Raymond
This wasn't particularly close.
Tuckaway Tavern & Butchery in Raymond received more recommendations than anywhere else in the comments.
Teresa Babkirk said, “The food is fantastic, the menu is a hoot to read, and the wait staff does an excellent job.” Have a hoot reading the menu here
Mike LePage kept his recommendation much simpler:
“Tuckaway Tavern Raymond. All day long.”
Laura Perry-Arnold also recommended Tuckaway, while giving us one warning: it's excellent, but you may run into a wait.
That's not exactly shocking. Tuckaway has become one of those New Hampshire restaurants people will actually make a trip for, particularly if meat is involved. The Raymond restaurant is attached to its own butcher shop and is well known for steak tips, burgers and an enormous selection of meats you can take home.
I've already experienced Tuckaway myself, although I went straight for the steak tips and lobster rolls. I had the Bloo Balls for dessert! IYKYK! LOL!
They were ridiculous.
Perfectly cooked, great char, and one of several reasons I left wondering why I had apparently ordered enough food for a family of six.

2. Hanover Street Chophouse — Manchester
If we're talking about the classic steakhouse experience, Hanover Street Chophouse got a lot of love. Check their menu here. I'll take the Prime Delmonico please.
Matthew Folsom, Ron Lemay, George Dixon Jr., Chris Delgiudice and Brian Jalbert all pointed me toward the Manchester restaurant.
Hanover Street Chophouse is definitely the special-occasion option on this list. It's an upscale downtown Manchester steakhouse featuring cuts including filet mignon, along with seafood and the kind of old-school steakhouse atmosphere that makes you want to order a bourbon with dinner.
This feels like the place I need to go when I'm not simply craving steak.
I'm craving the whole steak dinner experience.

3. Buckley’s Great Steaks — Merrimack
With a name like **Buckley’s Great Steaks**, you'd better be able to deliver.
Several listeners insist they do.
Brittney Jean simply said:
“Buckleys!”
Danielle Ellis Stoughton and Sheryl Fisher agreed, while Laura Perry-Arnold put Buckley's alongside Tuckaway among her favorites.
And this one gets my attention because the current menu is basically speaking my language: filet mignon, ribeye and even a massive bone-in Cowboy Steak. I'll take all of that. Oscar style
Okay. Now we're getting serious.
At This Point I Have A Problem
Here's where I admit something. Steak might be my favorite food group. Although tacos are making a serious run at the title.
If there's a **medium-rare filet** on a menu, there is about a 93% chance that's what I'm ordering.
Unless there's a really good ribeye or Tomahawk.
Then I'll stare at the menu for 15 minutes pretending I'm considering other things before ordering one of those two anyway.
The only food that can derail this entire process is birria tacos.
Which seems like the appropriate time for this:

Now back to the steak.

4. Christopher’s Third Street Grille — Dover
This recommendation may have been the most specifically targeted at me. It's close and I go here a lot. lol.
Lynn Lemay wrote:
“Christopher's Third Street Grille has the BEST FILET!!!!”
Claudine Lund and Ellen Bruton also recommended Christopher's.
And here's the bonus for those of us on the Seacoast: it's right in downtown Dover.
Christopher's menu focuses on steak and seafood, and filet mignon and ribeye are both among the steakhouse-style entrees associated with the restaurant.
I've already talked about Christopher's as one of Dover's standout restaurants, and the filet has specifically been one of the reasons people recommend it. I had one not too long ago with the sauteed mushrooms.

5. The Library Restaurant — Portsmouth
Portsmouth listeners made sure **The Library Restaurant** wasn't forgotten. It's a pricey but i'll take the Library Porterhouse please. See their menu here
Alicia Stickney Hannigan didn't leave much room for debate:
“The Library Restaurant in Portsmouth... no question!”
Joe Hennigar agreed.
And there's something about eating a steak in downtown Portsmouth that already feels like the beginning of a pretty great night.

6. Ledge Water Steakhouse — Bristol
Here's the road-trip steak option and I don't think I've wanted a Tomahawk steak so bad in my life. The menu says
"Tomahawk - 40oz, Smoked Salt, Maple Butter".
Holy crap!
Beth Farmer recommended **Ledge Water Steakhouse in Bristol**, and Michelle Renée Renzi backed her up.
This one sits overlooking Newfound Lake and operates seasonally, making the setting almost as big a part of dinner as the steak itself. Its steak lineup includes filet and ribeye cuts, including a dry-aged ribeye and a massive bone-in option.
Steak plus a New Hampshire lake sunset?
That's going to be a tough argument to beat.

7. LongHorn Steakhouse — Newington
Don't sleep on the chain restaurant answer.
LongHorn came up repeatedly.
Berry-Family Racing suggested either LongHorn or Tuckaway.
Christine Petrin voted LongHorn.
June Gagne said:
**“Longhorn's never disappoints.”**
And Brian Douillette specifically shouted out the T-bone and bacon mac and cheese.
LongHorn also has New Hampshire locations including Manchester, Concord and Nashua, making it one of the easier recommendations on this list depending on where you live.

I need to start working through the filets and ribeyes on this list.
Medium rare, obviously.
And if somebody wants to point me toward another great steak I missed, send it my way.
Just understand that if the restaurant also happens to have birria tacos...
We may have to start this entire debate over again.
