Uncomfortable storytime.

My wife is one of the best gift-givers. She is so good, in fact, that I don't have to do any shopping!

This year, two days before Christmas my wife said that we needed to get a book for my sister and her wife.

Both my sister and her wife are in education. My wife got them about 6-7 gifts (beautiful and thoughtful gifts) including a bookmark. She asked me to do one thing...pick out a book.

I didn't even know they read - but apparently, I told my wife they do!

So, my wife wanted me to be involved in the gift-giving. Not just show up and take credit for everything.

We headed downtown Portsmouth, New Hampshire, and popped into RiverRun Bookstore. After about 10 minutes of looking at the covers, titles, and the summary on the back, I decided on a book.

Do I remember the title, of course not. But the book, from my memory, seemed like a woman's self-empowering book. Something my sister and her wife would like...so I thought.

Long story made short...I gave my sister porn. Heterosexual porn.

Reminder - my sister is a homosexual.

She called me a day or two after Christmas to ask me if I knew what type of book I got here. I told the truth - no. I just read the summary and it seemed like a match...

It turns out the book was FILLED with sexual fantasies. A good read for some. Assuming 90% of the sexual fantasies were male/female based, this was a bad gift for my lesbian sister.

I mean a brother buying a sister a book about sexual fantasies is a WEIRD MOVE...

A brother buying his gay sister a book about heterosexual fantasies is much much worse.

I'm so sorry to my sister and her wife - I am not trying to change you.

I guess you should only give a book as a gift if you have heard about it...or read it yourself...or just know what it is about.
